The Reading Enrichment and Academic Deliverables (READ) program is a state-funded book and literacy program designed to support Louisiana students not yet reading on grade level. Learn more about the program here.

Students in preK4 through 5th grade who are enrolled in a Louisiana public school, including public charter schools, and not yet reading on grade level are eligible. Students will receive a code from their school for families to register them in the program.

The first shipment will occur in March and the second shipment will occur in May.

Books will be delivered directly to children’s homes through the mail. If circumstances require an alternative delivery method, email ReadLA@Scholastic.com to identify an alternate plan.

Children and their families can select the topics of the books they would like to receive. Both fiction and nonfiction books covering a wide variety of genres, characters, and settings are available. Books in this program are age-appropriate, high-quality, and organized by grade level.

Books and literacy resources are available in English and Spanish.

This program is 100% free for eligible children and their families. 

Parents/Guardians need to provide:

• Shipment Address

• Book Genre and Topic Interests

• Book Language Preference

Only families who have registered for READ are opted into the program. If you would like to opt out of the READ program, you should not register. If you choose to opt out after registering, please contact ReadLA@Scholastic.com.
